I work across software, education, and media — building tools, infrastructure, and experiences that make complex things more clear. This site is also an experiment. Most of it was built in close collaboration with Claude. The speed and quality of what is becoming possible is worth demonstrating rather than just describing.

Current Projects

• University Transcription Service

  tool ai on-premises

  A containerised audio transcription service built for an NVIDIA DGX environment. Runs entirely offline using Whisper Large-v3 — optimised for legal, academic, and research audio. Outputs transcripts in multiple formats including Word, VTT, and JSON.

  A weekly podcast produced with Queen's University Belfast School of Law. Running since 2017. We tell stories about the law.

I'm Richard — based in Belfast, working in higher education. My background (loosely) spans instructional design, software development, IT infrastructure, and audio and visual production. I don't specialise in one thing; I (mostly) work at the edges where those disciplines meet.
